Berger Ways of Seeing
1. What are the viewer/writer’s expectations of the art? What does he or she think is possible? How does the writer work against the silence of the piece of art she or he chose? What methods does he or she employ to have the conversation? (between 1-2 pages)
2. At the end of the essay, does the writer confirm or deny Berger’s theories about mystification (the viewer ONLY expects to be mystified by the way the art is displayed, discussed or reproduced)? Does he or she directly invoke Berger? If not, is the question clearly addressed? (between 1-2 pages)
