Art with Twist

Find a pop culture alteration of a classic image from art history. For example, there are many playful versions of Michelangelo’s Renaissance masterpiece the Mona Lisa (1503-1507) that change her to into a rock star, Morticia Addams, or even Michelangelo himself. This is the kind of example to write about.

—To help, you can do a Google images search on many of the artworks in your text, and see if any altered/played-with images pop up.—

Once you have found an interesting alteration, answer these questions:

Why did you choose this image?Give a detailed description of the artwork you are discussing, as well as the original work it is referencing and a brief biography about the original work’s artist.

Identify the changes made to the original image, a brief biography on the new artist, and the “twist” that makes the new artwork special.

Finally, explain why this image caught your eye, as well as what you find interesting about the work. Your feelings can range from interest and admiration to anger or distaste. Make sure that your reasons are well thought out and thoughtfully explained
