The final paper will ask you to apply one of the criminological theories discussed during the semester to a criminal justice-related current event that occurred during this semester.  You will connect the event you choose to what you have learned in the various chapters and write a comprehensive paper.

You will discuss the criminological and historical contexts of the event. You will examine the event in the context of the material you have read in the text.  You will connect the event to at least one theory we have discussed and find a minimum of three outside sources (peer reviewed journal articles) that also discuss the theory.  You will explain how the research on this theory offers an explanation for the event. You will connect all of this to what you have learned over the course of the semester and write a comprehensive paper.
