Lord Byron

Begin your initial research about your poet with some biographical information, but as soon as possible begin to read as much of his/her poetry as possible. The biographical information should be very brief as an introduction to your poet, but keep in mind that the purpose of your paper is to give a critical analysis of your poet’s work focusing on some aspect of the overall work that helps to define and unify your critical analysis. Possible research questions might be: What is unique about the poet’s work that makes his/her writing of poetry worthwhile? What technique(s) does he/she use? How do these techniques help define him/her as a poet of importance? What special abilities does he or she have in writing poetry? These questions are not all inclusive but will help you know some things to look for as you are researching and reading the poetry. Your finished paper should be from 1300 – 1500 words and should have a minimum of 3-5 critical sources Decide on some aspect of the poet’s work (such as use of imagery, major themes, any special features of the poet’s work, etc.) that you can prove using examples from the various poems, as well as critical sources, to support your thesis.
