Describe the principal components of the ‘public sphere’ by Jurgen Habermas. How does this relate to the ‘imagined communities’ analyzed by Benedict Anderson? In both cases, what kind of theory of communication supports these respective theories? How do they relate to the writings of theorists such as Debord or Marx, on the one hand, and Benkler, on the other?
