Background of Larry Page

Google under the leadership of Larry Page happen to be one of the leading companies internationally. Larry Page is considered to be one of the best computer specialist and a renowned internet entrepreneur. He was born in the year nineteen seventy three in Michigan United States. Interestingly, both of his parents, the mother and father were specialist in computers. His father, popularly known as Carl Page happened to be one of the pioneers of current computer science and more importantly the artificial intelligence. On the other hand, his mother was a tutor in the computer programming. After, lower grade education, he joined Michigan University where he pursued a degree in Engineering. Later he decided to join Stanford University where he enrolled for a degree in Computer Engineering. His wide knowledge and skills in the computer arena did not go unnoted, as he embarks on a series of computer related projects. It is here in the university that he met one of his long co-patriots Sergey Brin (Battelle 116).

Background of Google

Working closely together, the two guys, Sergey and Larry made a search program engine which could list the outcomes or results as per how a certain page was popular. Later this search engine was named as Google. The word Google was adopted from a term in mathematics ‘googol’ which means a number one the one hundred zeros following (Battelle 112). The idea behind choosing this name was the fact that the program was meant to combine a lot of data as large as that number could be. However, Google was officially launched in the year nineteen ninety nine after a lot of improvement were done on the first search engine. This was after saving one billion dollars which was contributed by friend, families and invested that made the launch of the world leading Search Engine a reality. It is no surprise to find that currently Google is the most widely used search engine globally. According to statistics in the year two thousand and thirteen, the number of searches done in the Google per day averaged too approximately six billion. The headquarters of this company is in Silicon Valley United States. The company has experience continued growth over the past years as a result of having of having a good leadership under Page who is perceived to be one of the most ambitious chief executive officers of the current times (Girard 29).

Larry Leadership Style and Philosophy

This innovative leader has unique leadership strategies and philosophy one of the factors that have contributed to making Google a leading search company. The word innovation can sound too obvious or lacks meaning to many but that what matters a lot to Page. From time to time, he is always ready to improve this company from good to better. One of the most notable characters of this gentleman is his love and respect for democracy. He is open to ideas and invites different recommendations that may gear the growth of the company to high levels. Some of his philosophies include the following. First, he constantly tells all his working crew and employees to believe and work on crazy ideas. These are kind of thoughts that you share with your friend and he or she thinks that they are unrealistic or lacks direction. As per Page, it is this idea that will oversee the changing of the current world. Unlike, most of the other companies where a decision takes years if not months before they are implemented, the case with Google are different. Larry advocates for a quick implementation of any viable idea that will have a positive impact on the company. To ensure that his working team is on toes, Pages request a minimum of about sixty worlds on any project a certain person is working on. This has perfectly dealt with the spirit of procrastination and complacency in the company.  Another leadership strategy of this CEO is maintaining his working team. As per the simple rule of business, continues working brings about specialization (Rule 110). Therefore, Page capitalizes on holding his working team by ensuring that they believe in his leadership and philosophy. Once the team remains together, they can be able to connect and link between the past and the future of the company.

Page happens to be one of the introvert chief executive officers. He highly believe in his capability and ideas and always ready to give them a trial. Bearing in mind that he had maintained a proactive working team, he happens to be one of the introvert leader. This has been a success point of this company, unlike in other company where the top boss ideas have to be consulted and contested widely. Autocracy is an enemy of creative and successful production (Ferragina 221). Autocracy is the form of leadership where a certain person holds total and unlimited power over the others. This is one of the things that Page has successfully tried to avoid. He has composed a group of well qualified team that look on the ideas that have constantly helped this company to become the best search engine and the leading globally. Moreover, Page oversees continues employment of more workers with high working capabilities in the related field. Also, he has previously embarked in capturing good university student and graduates globally who are perceived to have a talent or knowledge in the computer and computer technology arena. This has created job for young people who in one way or another have fresh ideas that will allow Google to continue enjoying wide usage and popularity even in the years to come. Under Page leadership and philosophy Google has provided the best for both its users and its employees.

Page Leadership and Culture

Google culture is detailed on having a free and open team where everyone contributes to the well-being of the entire organization. According to Google, in order for the company to have a common goal, all employees’ leaders and stake holders must work closely together (Barroso 27). This in turn will create an effective and reliable organization culture. Everyone involved, must have a common bottom line being to see the continued growth of this organization. Employees are encouraged to share their ideas with the management, on the interval of months or incase whenever there is an open day.

Page Personal and Organizational Values

It is widely believed that, if were not for the leadership of Larry Page, the achievement attained by Google could still be their future goals. Leading a company of such statue is not a simple task and therefore, Larry deserves recognition.  Despite being an intelligent man, Page still has other leadership traits that are important in leadership especially in this competitive word. His supportive and accommodative attitude has highly contributed in making Google a global organization.  Most notable, Page has persevered to ensure that all of his employees perceive the Google organization to be a family. Few companies have managed to offer insurance cover for their employees, provide transport, lunch allowance and even health care packages, but Google has strived to achieve that. This is all owed due to creative leadership and management of Page to ensure that his working team is always motivated.  Moreover, Page is a flexible leader. To support this one can raise the argument on the decision and idea of Page to release software related products whose main aim is to challenge other companies competing with Google. For instance, Google released they office version application, ‘Google Docs’ which is considered to be a cheaper alternative of the widely used Microsoft Office. Moreover, Google launched their own browser, Google chrome, which has perfectly helped in ending the dominance of the other web browsers such as Microsoft Mozilla and internet Explorer which had for a long time enjoyed the monopoly of the market (Gray 48).

Larry also has the capability to note and detect unexploited strengths and thus ensuring that the company has something new to offer to its users and move in line with the ever changing environment. It is through this character that he has achieved in growing a company that was launched as a mere search engine. Google has become a competitor with other well established companies in software and application production such as Apple and Microsoft. To support this, Google as a company owns the leading video services worldwide, a phone company Motorola, widely used emailing services and undertakes production of software’s used in smartphones. Moreover, it has launched Google platform a venture in the social media arena.

Larry influence on Google Ethical Behaviors

As the top guy in the Google Company, Page oversees most of the company’sserious ventures. Although the embraced organization values must be clearly indicated from the junior most employees it highly depends on the input of the senior most. Meaning, a leader have a great influence on shaping the ethical behavior of a certain organization. Larry Page have constantly embraced and advocated for innovation and creativity in Google. Page has adhered to openness and provision of quality and good services to all its users.

To sum up, Larry Page happen to be one of the smartest leaders who any growing and upcoming company would always wish to have. It is through his commitment and contribution that Google has managed to challenge competitors not only in the search sector but also in application production. It is beyond doubt that under his leadership Google will achieve greater heights.
