Main Task: Assess Community Social Problems
This activity has two parts.
Part 1: Discuss Social Problems (3 points)

List at least five important social problems or issues facing your community or society. Then choose one of the problems or issues listed and answer these questions:
Using information garnered from the assigned readings for this Activity, which community psychology values are relevant to this issue, and why?
How does this issue involve factors at individual, microsystem, organizational, locality or macrosystem levels as identified by Bronfenbrenner and discussed in your readings?
Share your list and your thoughts in a discussion posting.
Length: 350-500 words
Your discussion should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect graduate-level writing and APA standards. Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University’s Academic Integrity Policy.

Part 2: Look Ahead to your Signature Assignment (2 points)
Your final Activity for this course requires you to analyze a current social issue and assess how prevention or empowerment is used in an intervention program to address the issue. You may elect to use the issue you discuss in Activity 1 as the basis for your final assignment or select an issue from the list you have prepared for Activity 1. If you have another issue you would like to assess, discuss that option with your Mentor. Send a brief description of your topic to your Mentor to be sure that you�re on the right track!
