Employee Recruitment and Selection

In this first SLP, please:

Assess the relative strengths and weaknesses of your organization’s recruiting, selecting, and onboarding processes.  Based on your assessment, make three key recommendations to improve at least one, if not all three, of these processes.

In preparing your assessment, you will benefit greatly by interviewing your HR manager or personnel director (if that’s not you!) to learn about the nature of recruiting, selection, and onboarding processes in your organization. If you are not currently working, or are unable to interview your HR manager or personnel director, it is ok to use another organization that you have access to (e.g. one that a family member or friend works for), and/or relevant information from the organization’s website (e.g., government organizations often have quite extensive information on their websites regarding selection procedures).

Assignment Expectations:

Please:

  • Prepare a 3 page assessment, not including cover and reference page, double spaced, 1″ margins.
  • Draw upon the required readings, plus any other relevant sources, including information you obtain from an interview with the HR manager or other expert.
  • Cite and reference any sources that you use in your work.
  • Use headings and subheadings to clearly show the structure of your assessment.
