College Tuition

Dear College President,

College tuition has been one of the most important elements in the academic learning of the students. This is because there are some things the students require the assistance of the teacher since they can be able to understand on their own. However, recently, the tuition fee has been increasing for both our school and the neighboring schools. This can be shown in the table below:

Therefore, (1,400×100)/31,400 = 4.46%

In the years 2008-2009, our university had a rise in the tuition fee by 1,400 dhs as compared to the neighboring school, Sharjah University, which did not have a change. The percentage was 4.46%.

Year 2009 – 32,800 dhs 24,800 dhs

Change = 1,900 dhs 600 dhs

Percentage increase = 32,800 – 100% 24,800 – 100%

Therefore, (1,900×100)/32,800 = 5.79% (600×100)/24,800 = 2.42%

In the years 2009-2010, our school had a higher rise in tuition fees of 1,900dhs than Sharjah university, which an increase of 600 dhs. The difference in the increase was 1,300dhs. The percentage increase of the two universities is 5.79% for American University of Sharjah and 2.42% for Sharjah University.

In the years 2010- 2011, our still had the highest increase of 2,100 dhs and a percentage increase of 5.56% as compared to Sharjah University, which had an increase of 1,100 dhs and a percentage increase of 4.15%.

Therefore, (6,400×100)/37,800 = 16.93% (1,700×100)/24,800 = 6.85%

In a span of four years, our school had the highest increase of 6,400 dhs and a percentage increase of 16.93% as compared to Sharjah University, which had an increase of 1,700 dhs and a percentage increase of 6.85%. This percentage increase can be shown clearly by the use of a bar chart below.

The increase in the different tuition fees could have been caused by several reasons. These reasons could have been internal or external factors, which could have affected the differences in the rise of the tuition fee. The internal factors are those factors that may have been affecting the university and the external factors are those reasons that may have been affecting the outside environment of the school.

One of the reasons that could have affected the increase in the tuition leading to the difference is the high turnover of the students. According to the market forces, that is, demand and supply, there was a lot of demand by the students in our school as compared to Sharjah University especially the years between 2008 and 2009. Additionally, there could have been an introduction of new resources to facilitate the quality of the tuition fees in our school especially in the first three years as compared to Sharjah University; therefore, causing the difference in the rise of the tuition fees, between the two universities.

Another reason that could have caused the difference in the rise of tuition fees is the quality of the tuition. The quality of the tuition in our school could have increased leading to this rise in the tuition fees as compared to the quality of tuition in Sharjah University. Therefore, this led to the rise of the tuition fees between the two universities. Additionally, the name of the school could have led to the increase tuition fees. For example, if the school is highly recognized and reputable, most likely it will have a high increase in the tuition fees. Therefore, our school could have increased its recognition leading to a high increase in the tuition fees as compared to Sharjah University thus causing the difference. On the other hand, inflation could have led to the rise of the tuition fees in the two schools but it could not have led to the differences.

Therefore, this means that the school quality is increasing leading to a high turn out of the students. Additionally, the school could have also been increasing its reputation as compared to the other neighboring universities. It is because of this difference in the rise of tuition fees that the school popularity and level of quality that it is providing has increased.
