The book looks at the work of Helen Frankenthaler. It describes the dedication she had towards her work and the methods that she used to paint. It also tells of her inspiration back then. Helen was inspired by Jackson Pollock who was also a painter. She was amazed at his technique and the boldness with which he painted. Helen often experimented with how she would use colors on canvas and although ninety percent of her initial experiments were unsuccessful, she did not give up.

The article gives a biography of Helen Frankenthaler. Helen spent most of her life in New York. According to the article, Helen was the second painter to see the implications of attained paintings (the first one being Jackson Pollock). She went ahead to create the mountains and sea in 1952. This was a major highlight in her career and it influenced future color- field style paintings. The article also briefly describes how she carries out her work.

The article gives a brief biography of Pierre Balmain. It notes his influences in fashion and his quick success. It also tells of the kind of designs that he developed. The author goes on to note the major highlights of Pierre’s life such as becoming the personal couturier of the Queen of Thailand. Pierre did not specialize with one style only but diversified in his use of fabrics.

In addition to giving a small biography of Pierre, the article gives a brief description of his designs and how they differed from the new look style experienced during that time. The article also notes some of the awards that Pierre received in recognition of his work. The article also notes some of the people to whom Pierre was couturier to especially film legends.

The author draws attention away from Charles biography and instead, he chooses to focus more on his work. She notes the philanthropic side of James who encouraged his clients to donate clothes to the museums. The article details how Charles did his work with precision. The author takes a deeper look at the personality that Charles presented in his work.

The author starts by giving a brief history of Charles James and his career. Charles was so keen on his work especially the way that the gowns were sculpted and the use of different colors. He produced two famous gowns, which are the four-leaf clover gown and the butterfly gown. Charles did not get along well with people, as his personality was difficult to tolerate. He was not a very good businessperson. The year 1978 saw the end of talent from this talented designer. A talent he chose to end through drug abuse
